Our Mission
Mountain Military Guide exists to make military life in Colorado Springs easier. Whether you just received PCS orders to Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever SFB, USAFA, or Cheyenne Mountain, the amount of information you need to absorb in a short time can be overwhelming. We built this site to be the single most useful starting point for military families arriving in the Pikes Peak region.
We cover everything that matters for a smooth PCS and a great quality of life: up-to-date BAH rates, on-post and off-post housing options, school district guides, neighborhood comparisons, spouse employment resources, and honest takes on what Colorado Springs is like as a duty station. We also keep our content current — all BAH rates, housing data, and resource information is reviewed and updated annually.

Our Approach
We are an independent, civilian-run website. We are not affiliated with any military branch, the Department of Defense, or any government agency. All content is written with military families in mind and is researched from official DoD data sources (for BAH rates), public school district records, and local community knowledge built up over years of tracking Colorado Springs' military community.
We display advertising through Google AdSense to cover the costs of running this site. Advertisers do not influence our editorial content. We only recommend resources and neighborhoods that we genuinely believe will help military families — we have no sponsored placements or paid neighborhood promotions.
Accuracy and Updates
BAH rates are updated annually when the DoD releases the new fiscal year rates (effective January 1 each year). Housing market data (rent ranges, home prices) is reviewed annually and updated to reflect current conditions. School district information is reviewed each fall enrollment season. If you notice any outdated information, please contact us and we'll update it promptly.
